Pinterest(ing), very Pinterest(ing) - crocheted rug, rubber mat wall art

Today I wanted to show you a couple of projects that I found on Pinterest.  I do love Pinterest, if you aren't hooked on it yet, you really should give it a try!  The first project is a crocheted rag rug.
Below is a picture of the rug that I have made mostly from recycled sheets.  I'm not sure that I am finished yet, I need to decide where I am putting it before I can settle on a size.

The pic below, along with a link, is from Sugarbeecrafts.  If you search Pinterest you can find several different patterns.  I didn't read the tutorial on this because I already know how to crochet, and just figured the rest out by myself.

I put it here in the patio just so you can get an idea of the size it is right now.

This is a picture of the size of the crochet hook that I used.  Size Q.

Next is some wall art that I have seen on Pinterest.  It is made from a rubber mat, I got mine at McDiarmid for about $4.

Here is my first one, I say first because I have thought of some other uses for this idea, but you will just have to wait and see!

Here it is in place, again, you can see the size.  The fastest project you can ever want to do!

I hope you enjoyed these projects, I will soon be walking the yard to show you some of my favourite spots, but this is all for now.
If you are able, hug your Dad today,  I sure wish I could hug mine.  I will have to hug the Father of my children instead, he's pretty good too.

Something a Little More Current - bamboo coffee table, antique couch

So I will jump from my oldest (well maybe oldest) furniture makeover (the Susan chair), to my newest, and probably quickest.

Bamboo Coffee Table
Before

I bought this coffee table at a yard sale on Saturday, this is only Monday, and it is already finished.

Well I think it's finished, however, I may decide to antique it, but I need to think on this a while.  I also have a feeling it may end up a shiny black, but I need to think on this too.  I have been wanting to paint something blue, but am never sure that it is the blue that I want, still not sure, but here it is for now.

After
Whoa, this one is a little blurry, gotta tune up my photography skills.  I think I know someone who can help me with that. http://www.hudsongirl.smugmug.com/

Okay,  we go from the easiest project to one that was a heck of a lot of work!
Antique Couch Makeover

 My current pride and joy!

Yup!  Still in love with this one!

Resting on my laurels Part V - wicker chair

Pin It Many years ago my friend Susan had a garage sale.  The first thing I saw when I pulled up were 2 old wicker chairs in very, very bad shape.  I bought them for $1 each.  When I told her I would take them she laughed and said "I was going to throw them to the dump but I said to myself, 'Faye will buy these'!"  I'm sorry that I don't have a "true" before pic because I have redone one of them, the worst one, but I have a pic of the better one, that I have not yet redone.  Confusing enough for you?  I still have one in my shack in storage, but the one I redid looked so much worse.  On the one that is waiting for my attention the front, bottom, is patched to hold the wicker in place.  The one I redid had the front torn away and I had to track down a roll of wicker and weave a new one before putting it in place.  I still have the remainder of that roll somewhere, I hope it's not too brittle because I will probably have to do the same on the remaining one to get rid of those patches.  We shall see.

Before

After

It now sits proudly in my closed in patio, aside the chairs from my Gram that are in original condition (one orange, and one green), except for recovering the seat cushions to match this one.  Oh why don't I just show you?

Aren't they cute together?  I feel like I should freshen up Gram's chairs with a new coat of paint but Johnny thinks I should leave them, once again, we shall see.  I think when I redo the other "Susan" chair someday it will be the aqua colour from the seat fabric.

Resting on my laurels, Part IV; bedside table/ end table fabulous

I've been busy for a couple of days, I have to remind myself that I've taken on this new venture.  I took Friday off work and went to pick up siding for Buddy at Menards.  Ahhh, a trip to Menards all by myself, where I could look at whatever I wanted, for as long as I wanted!  I could easily go back today and look again!  It's never enough, just gets the creative juices flowing..  In fact, when I got back my husband was telling me that he and the boys were discussing how much I would be enjoying myself, walking around the store looking at everything.  If you live in the city or near a good shopping area you just can't understand.  when you live isolated (it was a 3 hour drive just to get to Menards) like I do you really appreciate shopping and seeing the selection available.

Yesterday we started putting the siding up on Buddy's house, I wish it was as easy as it sounds, but because we kept the cement basement, we are working around someone else's handy work (someone not as precise as we are), we will be so glad when that part is over with once and for all.  Yesterday was 90% prep work and 10% siding, but it does look great, I love progress.

Anyway, on to more creative things, hmmm, what will I share today, have to take a few minutes and look at pictures to see what else I have here, I will be right back.

Okay so this is what I have found, 2 bedside/end tables.  Please excuse the picture quality, I was not blogging at the time, just taking pics for myself and my Facebook friends.  Suffice it to say these were ugly when I got them. There are 2 of them, they were painted dark brown and had ugly little drawer pulls. My daughter graciously picked these up from Kijiji for me.  I have no access to Kijiji without her.  She lives in the city and I live in a small town where I need to rely on garage sales and the kindness of good friends to get my "junk".  Having said that, I have done quite well relying on friends in the past, sometimes people just call me up and let me know that have something to give away or sell.  I love when that happens!

                     Before

This was a quick fix.  I sprayed them silver and changed up the hardware,  I love the new hardware!  Although I used 2 different knobs I will probably be changing them when I get around to it because I have new plans for the bigger knobs.

Which leads me to the next project...

Resting On My Laurels Part II - reupholstered chair

Pin It December 1/12
I have decided to go back and buff up some of these older posts, maybe nobody will ever see them, who knows, but I feel some of these deserve a little more "attention" than I previously gave them. I will have to retrieve photos from different computers, so it may be a work in progress.

June 7/12
Hi all!  I am going to start with some previously done "before and afters"  My Facebook friends have seen these before, but if you are new to my ramblings,  they will be new to you.

                    Before

This is a chair that my husband had when we got married.  It was in good shape at the time, but still extremely ugly!  I held on to it because I could see the possibilities.

After

I hope you all like it as much as I do, I finally got around to taking a close up of the fabric, it is gorgeous, the white is stiched on top of the black with just a glint of silver showing around the edges!  Now I wish I had held on to the couch that went with it, but I finally talked Johnny into throwing it out last year, isn't that always the way!  Oh well, it was in pretty bad shape anyway.
