I Was a Busy Little MacGIRLver Today! Reclaimed wood side table

What's this you ask.  It's Johnny's pile of scrap lumber.

OK, so what am I going to do with it?

And what is this?  I almost threw this out last week.  It has been in our patio for several years.  Johnny brought it home from somewhere and I have never had any use for it.  It is totally not me.  It is made out of plastic laminated product, ha ha, not even sure what that stuff is called.

Yesterday it hit me, the idea of the shiny chrome partnered with rough hewn weathered wood really appealed to me!
I took 2 pieces of reclaimed lumber that were already cut 45 degrees and cut 2 long pieces at 45 degrees to make a rectangle.  I screwed the 4 pieces together.

I took apart the rolling cabinet and discarded the white laminate.  (Well, I haven't actually discarded it yet, what if an idea strikes and it's too late because I've already thrown it away!)

I made the new top longer than the white one because I have an idea what I want to use this for, but you will have to wait and see what that is.  I added support rails inside the rectangle to hold up the three boards I cut for the top, and put those boards in place.

I gave it a light sanding to get rid of some of the splinters, but not too much because I didn't want to sand the gray weathered look off of it.  I originally was going to add a lower shelf, just to make it more functional, but when I made the shelf and held it in place, I didn't like it, so I left it off.

So, what do you think?
